GALILEO TECHNOLOGY MAKES AN ONLINE MOVE
TUCSON, AZ/ September 1, 2000 - Assessment Technology, Inc., announced the introduction of Galileo Online, a new, Internet-based application designed to easily and efficiently integrate assessment, screening, lesson planning, classroom activities and outcomes documentation for preschool children. ATI is the first and only company to offer this type of educational tool as an online application.
"School readiness and program accountability have become the important buzzwords at every level in the educational community," notes Dr. John Bergan, ATI President, "preschools are no exception. Preschool teachers and administrators are continually challenged to document the achievements of their children and improve the performance of their programs. Galileo Online creates an important link between providing for the technical needs of preschool educators and helping to deliver quality educational services to children."
The Head Start Bureau has recently released an information memorandum calling for the use of child outcomes in Head Start Program self-assessment. Galileo Online addresses this specific legislation by offering immediate Internet access to learning-related aggregated child outcome data. Preschools can use this important information in curriculum design, lesson planning and program improvement initiatives.
ATI has a long history of involvement in the early childhood education field. The reliability and validity of the assessment scales used in Galileo technology are based on twenty years of research in the university arena as well as in the private sector.
The company is planning to offer an online training component to Galileo Online within the next several months.
